Dr. Peter Sananman is an ER doctor at Penn-Presbyterian Hospital. This blog follows his experience volunteering at a clinic in Haiti after the earthquake disaster. He is going in coordination with Housing Works, NYC.
that's a very busy clinic. there were days where I was the only doc there. If alone expect to see up to 40 patients and that's because we had set that cut off because there's only so much one can do/see before sundown. We'd have to roll some other folks over the next day. After 1 such day, exhausted obviously, right outside that clinic was a truck full of people wearing scrubs. They were on the kind of truck you see at carnival. Only thing is they were busy taking pics. Some even waved at me. I thought, damn, wouldn't it be nice if 1 or 2 had come down to help me see some of these patients. No such luck, Guess they were on a tour.
